Developed based on a Renault Kangoo, the van Citan will allow Mercedes-Benz to occupy all segments of the utility range.
Next April, when the Commercial Vehicle Show in Amsterdam, Mercedes-Benz will unveil his van Citan (pronounced so Sitane International). For now, the brand had consented only to show drawings of its new Light Utility and to formalize the name. Until then, it's under the name Van City that this model was discussed.
This van, the first stamped Mercedes-Benz, will be a cross-badging Renault Kangoo model. The interior will be customized as well, like the grille and optics. Dimensions, however, utilities will be the same as those of the partner model. Other features of the German mark: ESP as standard, a management review of different damper settings, among others.
The Citan will be manufactured, as the Kangoo, Maubeuge, on the same assembly line. Chain-end, quality inspection will be conducted by personnel Mercedes. The German brand has not yet decided about the possibility of an electric version.
Nothing has filtered into the price of the future premium. Just do we know that if Mercedes-Benz has not developed his van on the basis of the Class A is for reasons of cost and thus competitive in a segment where a single euro account.
