Class E 300 BLUETEC HYBRID combines a four-cylinder engine of 201 hp (that of the E 250 CDI) with an electric motor providing 20 kilowatts (about 27 hp).
The car consumes 4.2 l/100 km and emits only 109 g CO2 per km. This compares to 4.9 l/100 km and 129 g of CO2 for Class E 250 CDI.
Mercedes is also developing a model powered by a V6 gasoline 300 hp electric motor associated with the same: the E 400 Bluetec Hybrid.
